Stabbing Victim

On Friday, February 26, 2016 at 5:41 p.m., the Ventura Police Department Command Center received a 911 call of a stabbing victim outside of Vons in the 5600 block of Telephone Road.  Officers, along with Ventura City Fire and AMR personnel, responded to the call and found the victim, later identified as Rock Nelson, 45, suffering from a single non-life threatening stab wound in the abdomen.  He was immediately transported to VCMC for treatment of his injuries.  The suspect, a white male, 25, was last seen fleeing eastbound through the shopping center parking lot.
Upon arrival at the hospital, the victim went into in surgery and his condition at this time is not known.
During the investigation, officers learned that Nelson and the suspect, who are possibly acquainted, got into a verbal altercation in the parking to the front of the store and began chasing each other.  The suspect caught Nelson and stabbed him.  He then fled the scene.
Officers are currently conducting the investigation and are waiting to speak to Nelson further to determine what happened.  There is no additional information at this time.  An additional press release will be sent out when the information is available. Anyone with information about this crime is asked to contact the Ventura Police Department at 339-4488.
