VENTURA, Calif. – The Ventura County Library has unveiled their new, responsive website, designed to optimize content delivery to smartphones and tablets. The redesigned site at www.vencolibrary.org is also streamlined to help users find information with greater ease.
“More than one in four of our library online visitors are on a mobile device,” said Jackie Griffin, Ventura County Library Director, “we wanted to enhance their experience and update the previous site (launched in 2009) at the same time.”
Features on the new site include:
Responsive design optimized for all mobile devices and tablets
A front page slide show to direct interested users to featured content
An “I Want to” menu designed to assist first time users
A Google language translation tool for over 100 languages
A sortable, searchable calendar of events; with feeds featured on specific audience pages
Simpler location pages featuring services icons, social media links, and calendar links and feeds
A comprehensive Library News feed featuring all library bloggers – news feeds are also featured on specific audience pages
An easier reading experience
The new site uses a Drupal 7 content management system and the LibrarySite Web solution from Cherry Hill Company. For computer users, the library features a backdrop photo from local landscape photographer, Tom Gamache.
