Assault on Thousand Oaks Police Officer


On Wednesday, March 16, 2016 at 11:25 a.m., a Thousand Oaks Police Officer was injured in the line of duty while investigating a call of a family disturbance.  While obtaining initial information regarding the disturbance at the home in the 800 block of Brossard Drive, Thousand Oaks, the officer was attacked and injured by Omar Flores, 21.  Flores then fled on foot and the injured officer chased and caught him.  The injured officer was attacked by Flores again and a fight ensued.  Additional patrol officers arrived and assisted with placing Flores under arrest.
Thousand Oaks Police Detectives responded and assisted with the investigation.  Field Evidence Technicians also responded to the scene and collected evidence. The officer was injured and received treatment at a local hospital. Flores was arrested for 243(c)(2)P.C. – Battery Against a Peace Officer and 69 P.C. – Obstructing or Resisting Executive Officer in Performance of Duties, both felonies.
Flores was booked into the Ventura Pre-Trial Detention Facility.  His bail was set at $20,000.
