On Saturday, March 19, 2016 at 7:55 p.m., a four door sedan was traveling at a high rate of speed Southbound on Highway 101, reportedly in excess of 100 mph, when the driver attempted to exit at Victoria Avenue and rammed into another sedan that was exiting the freeway. California Highway Patrol was immediately on scene. The speeding vehicle was thrown into the embankment that was adjacent to the rear of a gas station on the off-ramp. Fire and paramedic personnel treated the victim and secured the vehicle of hazards after the driver was taken into custody by CHP. The driver was the sole occupant and was transported in police custody via ambulance to a Ventura Trauma Center. The second vehicle had two occupants that required treatment and vehicle stabilization. Both victims were transported to a trauma center in Thousand Oaks in moderate but stable condition. The scene was left in the care of CHP where car removal and investigation is expected to take some time.
