Bakersfield, CA - Just before 8:30 a.m. on March 20, 2016, the Kern County Fire Department received a call for a Hanger Fire at Meadows Field Airport. A reinforced structure response was started by dispatchers. The first arriving crew encountered heavy smoke coming from a 4,000 square foot metal building. Fire crews deployed hose lines to the front of the hanger. Firefighters had to force entry into the hanger to extinguish the fire and checked several other units for extension. The fire was controlled in approximately 25 minutes. The fire caused approximately $2,000,000., destroying a recreational vehicle, boat and other property. The cause of the fire is undetermined.
