Assault with a Deadly Weapon Arrest

On Wednesday, April 13, 2016 at 10:36 a.m., the Ventura Police Department Command Center received a 911 call of a possible stabbing in the parking lot of the Buenaventura Gardens Apartments at 3700 Dean Drive.  Officers arrived on scene and found the victim suffering from non-life threatening wounds to his hand.  The suspect, later identified as Brennan Conway, 53, was located by officers leaving the area on a bicycle and detained.
During the investigation, officers learned that Conway had been loitering in the area for several days and was warned not to be on the property.  He was found to have set up a homeless encampment near a dumpster enclosure and was disturbing residents.  The victim, Davidson, saw that Conway had returned and confronted him.  A physical altercation occurred at which time Conway armed himself with a screwdriver and attempted to stab Davidson.  He sustained lacerations to the arm.  As Conway was leaving on his bicycle, he grabbed a wooden stick and struck Davidson in the head.  He also sustained superficial lacerations to his face. Conway was positively identified and arrested.  He was booked into the Ventura County Jail for assault with a deadly weapon, possession of controlled substances, and for being a post release offender. Davidson was treated at the scene by Ventura City Fire personnel and released.
