Carjacking Arrest

On Sunday, May 1, 2016 at 4:19 a.m., patrol officers responded to the 3300 block of Armada Drive regarding a carjacking that had just occurred.  The suspect had approached the victim while he was seated in his car, pointed a gun while demanding the keys, forced the victim out of the car and then fled in the stolen car.  As the initial officer was speaking with the victim, other patrol officers located the suspect, Jesus Garcia, 26 years of Santa Paula, in a shopping center parking lot at Borchard Drive and Thompson Boulevard.  Property belonging to the victim was found in the possession of the suspect. During the investigation officers found an “airsoft” gun the suspect had used to commit the carjacking.  A thorough search was completed of the surrounding neighborhood, and the victim’s vehicle was found abandoned near the intersection of Joanne Avenue and Porter Lane.
At the conclusion of the investigation, the suspect was booked into Ventura County Jail for carjacking and an unrelated misdemeanor warrant.  No one was injured during this incident.
