On Friday, May 13, 2016 at 4:08 p.m., the Ventura Police Department Command Center received a 911 call of a stabbing victim in the 1100 block of S. Seaward Avenue.  Officers, along with Ventura City Fire and AMR personnel, responded to the call and found the victim, later identified as Kent Winder, suffering from a non-life threatening laceration to his face.  He was immediately transported to VCMC for treatment of his injuries.  The suspect was last seen fleeing southbound on Seaward Avenue towards the beach.

Winder was uncooperative during the investigation, but based on the evidence and witnesses, it appears Winder was being chased by the suspect prior to the stabbing.  Near the entrance to the Social Tap restaurant, Winder fell to the ground.  The suspect, a white male in his 20s, then used a knife and slashed at Winder, striking him in the face.

Officers checking the area, but were unable to located the suspect.

Anyone with information about this crime is asked to contact the Ventura Police Department at 339-4488.  An anonymous tip can be made by calling Crime Stoppers at (800) 222-TIPS.
