VENTURA, Calif. – A bicycle rodeo that allows participants to learn and practice bicycle skills will be featured at Summerfest 2016. The 11th annual Summerfest event will take place on Saturday, May 21, 2016, from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. Summerfest 2016 will be held at Ventura Unified School District Education Service Center located at 255 West Stanley Avenue, Ventura. All activities at this daylong, “family friendly” event will focus on encouraging attendees to have a fit, active, and healthy lifestyle.
The bicycle rodeo will provide children with an introduction to bicycle safety, including rules of the road, proper bicycle fit and maintenance, proper bicycle helmet fit, and bicycle skills.
“We’re excited to be able to present the bicycle rodeo for children in our community,” says Officer Tejeda from the California Highway Patrol (CHP) Ventura Area office. “Through this rodeo, children in our community will be able to learn and practice skills essential to keeping them safe and bicycling for life.”
The bicycle rodeo is being presented by the CHP, Ventura Police Department, Ventura County Public Health/Safe Kids, and the Ventura County Medical Center Trauma Department. Funding for this program was provided by a grant from the California Office of Traffic Safety, through the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration.
