On Tuesday, May 17, 2016 at 11:45 a.m., detectives from the Oxnard Police Department Property Crimes Unit, with the assistance of the Oxnard Fire Department Investigators, completed a two-month long investigation that resulted in the arrest of 27 year old Oxnard resident, Krystal Rae Rodriguez.
On March 17, 2016 at approximately 1:40 a.m., the Oxnard Fire Department responded to a residential structure fire in the 5000 block of San Juan Avenue. Fire Department personnel discovered a travel trailer heavily engulfed with fire. After extinguishing the fire, investigators determined the cause of the fire to be Arson.
After executing a number of search warrants and obtaining additional evidence, Oxnard Police and Fire Investigators identified Krystal Rae Rodriguez as the person who intentionally set fire to the structure. The travel trailer, or mobile home, was currently being used as a primary residence which caused its occupant(s) to be relocated from this devastating loss of home and personal property.
Rodriguez was booked for Arson of an Inhabited Dwelling and other narcotics related charges. The total loss due to the Arson is estimated to be approximately $5,000.00.
The Oxnard Police Department continues to encourage residents to be partners in public safety as part of the Operation Safer and Stronger initiative.
