On Thursday, June 16, 2016 at 6:15 a.m., Ventura City Fire was dispatched to a reported structure fire in the second story of a two story residence in the area of Virginia and Lexington Drive. Upon arrival firefighters found the second story of the structure charged with smoke. The source of the smoke was discovered to be burning towels which were stored in a built-in cabinet. Firefighters extinguished the fire keeping it to the area of origin. Other than the damage to the cabinet and minor smoke damage to the second story the residence was otherwise undamaged. The cause of the fire remains under investigation, however, it is suspected that a halogen light inside the cabinet was the cause of the fire. No firefighters were injured as a result of this incident.
