On Friday, June 17, 2016 at 6:50 p.m., the Ventura Police Department Command Center received several 911 calls of two males fighting in front of a business in the 1400 block of Victoria Avenue.  It was reported one male, later identified as the suspect Aaron Carter, 47, was armed and threatening with a knife.  When officers arrived on scene, Carter began threatening the officers and charged towards them, pushing one of the officers.  The second officer deployed a Taser device, which incapacitated Carter and allowed them to take him into custody.

During the investigation, officers learned that the victim and his wife were waiting outside of a restaurant, when Carter approached them and started yelling at them.  Carter then removed a pocket knife and began threatening the victim.  Several patrons came to the aid of the victim and tried to control the situation, while waiting for police to arrive.

Carter was transported by AMR ambulance to VCMC for treatment of a minor head injury he sustained during the arrest.  After being medically cleared, Carter was booked into the Ventura County Jail for assault with a deadly weapon and felony resisting arrest.

No citizens or officers were injured as a result of this incident.
