Maricopa – Kern County Firefighters were called to a mobile home fire in the 900 block of Tulare Street at 11:29 a.m. When crews arrived, the mobile home was fully involved and adjacent vehicle and outbuildings were on fire. A second-alarm was requested due to the size of the fire and time of day. Crews have knocked down the flames but were on scene for approximately two hours for extensive mop-up. No injuries have been reported. KCFD Fire Investigators have arrived to assist with cause determination. Estimate of $50,000 in initial property loss. Unknown if the home had a working smoke alarm. This fire comes on the same day that Kern County Firefighters in Taft were assisting the American Red Cross with neighborhood smoke alarm installation. All homes are required by law to have a working smoke alarm. Smoke alarms save lives.
