Violent Resistance of Officers during Arrest

On Monday, June 20, 2016 at 2:20 a.m., two Ventura Police patrol officers walked into a business in the 1000 block of South Petit and attempted to contact Diego Santos, 20.  He was known by the officers and had an outstanding felony warrant.  As they contacted him and attempted to arrest him, he immediately became violent with them and charged directly at them.  The fight with him continued, knocking over items inside the business, and ultimately ended up outside of the business.  Once outside, the officers were able to finally take the suspect into custody.
During the fight, one of the officers sustained two small lacerations to his hand.  He was treated at the scene and returned to duty.  The suspect sustained a laceration to his head.  He was initially taken to VCMC where he was medically cleared and later booked into Ventura County Jail on the charge of violently resisting arrest and his felony warrant.
