Taft, CA - Just after 8 a.m. on Wednesday, June 22, 2016, Kern County Fire Station 21 in Taft received a phone call to the station advising that an adult male was trapped in a vehicle west of 25 Hill Road. Two people that were hiking in the oilfields discovered the Jeep and made contact with the 55-year-old driver. The Jeep was unstable and close to rolling 200 feet down a hillside. The driver’s leg was beginning to fall asleep, having had pressure on the brake pedal for more than an hour. When crews arrived, they made contact with the driver and secured his vehicle with two ropes to Patrol 21. Once the vehicle was secured, they opened the door slowly and helped the uninjured man out of his vehicle. The vehicle was then secured with ropes and pickets until it can be removed at the vehicle owner’s arrangement and expense.
