Camper Homicide Arrest

Detectives with the Oxnard Police Department’s Major Crimes Unit made an arrest in the homicide investigation of 32 year old Christopher Camper. Detectives arrested Christopher Gaston, a 36 year old Oxnard resident, and charged him in the shooting death of Camper.
The homicide occurred on June 25, 2016 at approximately 5:15 p.m. Camper was standing at a bus stop located at 1930 North Ventura Road. Detectives believe Gaston drove up to Camper and shot him multiple times, killing him. Gaston then fled the area in his vehicle, which is described as a silver 1990’s model Cadillac sedan.
According to detectives investigating the case, the motive for the murder appears to be a longstanding personal feud over property. Gaston was arrested for murder on Wednesday, July 20, 2016 at Ventura County Jail. Gaston was already in custody on an unrelated criminal offense.
Detectives will continue to investigate this case. The City of Oxnard offers a $10,000 reward for information leading to the arrest and conviction of a suspect(s) in homicide cases.
