On Saturday, July 23, 2016, at 6:52 a.m., an Oxnard resident discovered that his vehicle which was parked in front of his residence had been stolen. The victim located his vehicle in the 4100 block of Maulhardt Road and contacted the police. Officers responded to the area and located the victim’s vehicle as it was being driven in the area. Officers attempted to conduct a traffic stop and a vehicle pursuit ensued. The pursuit started in Oxnard and briefly went through the unincorporated areas of Camarillo.
The pursuit concluded with the suspect colliding into a parked vehicle near the intersection of Chester and Courtland. The occupants fled on foot but were apprehended. The driver, Jaime Mora, 19, was arrested for auto theft, reckless evading, and resisting arrest. The passenger, Christian Barajas, 18, was arrested for possession of stolen property.
