Assault with a Deadly Weapon and Attempted Carjacking

On Saturday, July 23, 2016 at 8:02 p.m., the Ventura Police Department Command Center received a 911 call of several subjects physically fighting in the parking lot of Marion Cannon Park, 1400 Saratoga Avenue.  One subject was described as being armed with a skateboard.  Officers arrived on scene and found the victim, a 46-year-old male, with a non-life threatening stab wound to his leg and minor injuries to his back.  He was treated at the scene by Ventura City Fire personnel and later transported to VCMC for treatment of his injuries.
During the investigation, officers learned the victim was at the park and while he was in the nearby restrooms, heard someone trying to start his truck.  The victim confronted the two suspects, 2 Hispanic Males, 20’s, along with a female, who were inside of his truck and a physical altercation occurred.  While the victim was fighting the one suspect in the driver’s seat, the second suspect exited the vehicle and started hitting the victim in the back with a skateboard.  The victim was also stabbed in the leg with an unknown type weapon.  Both suspects were then seen by witnesses fleeing the park on foot. Officers checked the area, but were unable to locate the two suspects. Anyone with information about this crime is asked to contact the Ventura Police Department at 339-4488.  An anonymous tip can be made by calling Crime Stoppers at (800) 222-TIPS.
