Highway 118 Injury Accident

On Tuesday, July 26, 2016 at 5:50 a.m., a traffic collision occurred resulting in a major injury on westbound Highway 118 at Balcom Canyon Road.
Saida Diaz, 46 years old, of Oxnard, was driving a 1993 Toyota Camry eastbound on Highway 118 attempting to make a left turn onto northbound Balcom Canyon Road. Kevan Bryan Killion, 31 years old, of Moorpark, was riding his Triumph motorcycle westbound on Highway 118 at an unknown speed. For unknown reasons, the Toyota made a left turn onto northbound Balcolm Canyon Road immediately in front of the Triumph motorcycle. The Toyota struck the front end of the Triumph motorcycle and partially ejected Killion. Killion suffered major lower extremity fractures and was transported to Los Robles Hospital and Medical Center for treatment. Diaz was treated on scene by Ventura County Fire Paramedics and was released with no known injuries. Killion was wearing an approved DOT helmet at the time of the collision. No arrests were made and alcohol/drugs were not a factor in this collision.
This incident resulted in the closure of the westbound lane for approximately one hour. The eastbound lane of was used to alternate traffic through the scene. The Ventura County Fire Department and AMR responded to the scene and assisted with traffic control.
