Near Lost Hills, CA - Just before 5:30 a.m. on Sunday, September 4, 2016, the Kern County Fire Department received a call for oil in the roadway at Lerdo Highway and Highway 33. KCFD Engine 26 arrived on scene and was met by AERA personnel advising that a pipe had broken. There was a large volume of reclaimed water, which contained some oil, covering a small section of Hwy 33 just South of Lerdo Highway. CHP closed Highway 33 in both directions and anticipates it will be opened by noon. AERA personnel worked to control the source of the leak and to contain the runoff. However, some of the runoff affected the Northwest corner of an almond orchard. KC Environmental Health responded to assist in coordinating the cleanup operation.
