Thousand Oaks Checkpoint Results

The Thousand Oaks Police Department Traffic Unit conducted a DUI/Driver’s License checkpoint on Saturday, September 3, 2016, on Hillcrest Drive east of Lynn Road between the hours of 9 p.m. and 12 a.m., and Hillcrest Drive east of Kalinda Place between the hours of 12 a.m. and 3 a.m.  Checkpoints are placed in locations that have the greatest opportunity for achieving drunk and drugged driving deterrence and provide the greatest safety for officers and the public.
Jonathan Suarez, 21, failed to stop for the checkpoint as required by law.  Checkpoint deputies followed and stopped Suarez a short distance away from the checkpoint and later arrested him for DUI. Emilio Cruz-Gonzales, 31, of Moorpark, was contacted at the checkpoint and his license had been suspended.  He was cited and released from the scene of the checkpoint.

The Thousand Oaks Police Department will be conducting another DUI/Driver’s License Checkpoint on Saturday, September 17, 2016 in our ongoing commitment to lowering deaths and injuries upon our streets and highways. The checkpoint was funded by a grant from the California Office of Traffic Safety, through the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration, reminding everyone to ‘Report Drunk Driver – Call 9-1-1’.
